Magic Low-Profile Platform Bed Frame - Assembly    

While it is possible to assemble this bed frame with a manual screwdriver, it will be much easier with an electric or cordless screwdriver. You will need a square #2 Robertson bit - which is usually red.


The Magic low-profile platform bed frame has 7 numbered parts. To assemble, follow the sequence of the numbered parts. It is usually sufficient to only screw the centre (middle) slat to the rails using the black countersunk pilot holes. There are additional pilot holes and supply extra screws in case they are needed or you wish to add them.


  1. Find pieces #1, #2 and #3 (rails with integrated legs

  2. Place the outside rails such as they are inset about 1.75 inches on the sides of the slats

  3. Find #4 and #5 (rounded end slats).

  4. Position them so that the rounded corners are on the outside corners of the bed and that the arrows are just covered by the slat.

  5. Slide the two outside rails together till they don't slide further.

  6. Use the screws provided to attach the outside rails to the outside slats - use the black countersunk pilot holes.

  7. Position #2 - centre rail into the centre of the bed and (markings on the slats will help to position it

  8. Use the screws provided to attach the center rail - use the black countersunk pilot holes.

  9. 3 screws for each slat set is usually enough - use the black countersunk pilot holes.

  10. Find #6 and #7 (middle slats).

  11. Position so the arrows are just covered by the slats (the distance between the slats is about 2 inches).

  12. Visually check that the slats are spaced equally and that they line all up.

  13. Attach the middle slats (3 screws for each set of slats is usually enough - use the black countersunk pilot holes.


Some extra details in case you want to double-check dimensions the during assembly:


  1. The slat overhang on the frame sides is about 1.75 inches

  2. the distance between slats is about 2 inches

  3. The slat overhang on the frame ends (head and foot

  4. The length of a Queen, King and Twin XL is 80 inches

  5. The length of a California King is 84 inches

  6. The length of a Twin and Full/Double is 75 inches

  7. The length of a Crib is 52 inches

  8. The width of a King is 76 inches (centre rail at 38 inches)

  9. The width of a Queen is 60 inches (centre rail at 30 inches)

  10. The width of a California King is 72 inches (centre rail at 36 inches)

  11. The width of a Twin and Twin XL is 38 inches (no centre rail)

  12. The width of a Crib is 27 inches (no centre rail)
